The Mexia Garden Club has selected the home of Larry and Kathleen Brown, 1024 E. Hopkins St., as the April Yard of the Month. The Brown’s corner home features a circular drive, neatly trimmed beds of knock-out roses, variegated liriope, and colorful pansies. Kathleen shared that her love of gardening was instilled at an early age by her grandmother and mother. She fondly recalled her grandmother pointing out a pansy’s “pretty little face” as she taught Kathleen the difference between flowers and weeds. The Brown home has been awarded Yard of the Month several times since the 1970s, most recently in 2010.
A caller informed the Mexia Police Department about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, that a body had been found on the property of a business in the 700 block of East Milam.
A DPS Trooper who was killed in the line of duty was honored again this week.
God is tender and compassionate, rich in mercy and grace. But He is also a God of justice.
