Developer disputes state officials’ accusations
Approximately 200 citizens gathered at the Freestone County Courthouse in Fairfield on Thursday, July 6, where Shawn Todd, founder of Todd Interests, disputed accusations and claims made by state officials who want to seize Todd’s property. It was Todd’s first time to speak publicly about purchasing the property, which includes the Fairfield Lake State Park.

Mexia football player Eliel Canizales puts maximum effort into lifting weights during the summer strength and conditioning program earlier this summer. The Blackcats are in the final three weeks of the summer program. They will receive their equipment next week. The first day of practice is July 31 and the opening game will be Aug. 25 at home against Waco Connally.
Cindy Walker Days just days away
Just a little more than a week before the first ever Cindy Walker Days festival in the city of Mexia on July 21-22, event organizer and Cindy Walker Foundation executive director Lindsay Liepman is “consciously optimistic” about the two-day celebration.
