The Mexia girls basketball team stayed with top-ranked Fairfield for two minutes, but the Lady Eagles pulled away after that and claimed a 72-40 victory at the Mexia High School gym Friday, Jan. 5.
It took a quarter for the Mexia Runnin’ Cats to get going, but once they did they left Fairfield in the dust.
Mexia girls soccer coach TJ Sadler admitted the expectations were not high for the Ladycats this year.
The Mexia boys soccer team lost 12 seniors, including seven starters. Many of those former Blackcats moved on to play at the college level this year.
