Timothy Dean Cates was born on March 24, 1967, in Wortham, to parents Larry Cates and Karen LeBlanc. He was the oldest of three children. Tim married Lynda Watson on Sept. 5, 1995, and they shared almost 25 years together. She was the love of his life. Together they had two wonderful sons, Zachary Watson and Patrick Cates. Tim was very proud to have served for eight years in the Army National Guard Reserves. Once Tim started his family, he had truly found his calling as a stay-at-home Dad. He loved to cook and was the best at it. He also enjoyed playing video games and was a movie fanatic. Tim could name any actor and what movie they played a role in. He was also a huge history buff and could read, listen or watch anything to do with our country.
He is survived by the love of his life, Lynda Ann Cates; son Zachary Watson; daughter-in-law, Shanice Helmer; son Patrick Cates; mother-in-law Dolores Watson; sister Margaret Wilson; brother-in-law Norman Wilson; brother-in-law James Watson; three nieces, Chelsea Bratcher and husband Gavin Patrick, Rhiannon Solley, and Haley Wilson and husband Kelley Warren; four nephews, Christian Cates and wife Brandi, Michael Cates and wife Aleyna, Jarik Watson and Kaylon Watson; three very special great-nieces who were more like granddaughters, Athena, Alice and Abigail Patrick; cousin Chrischan Stephens; and a host of special family and friends, Ian Chambers, Tracy Thornton, Bill and Sharon Booth, Randall Stephens, Cindy Zamora, Danny Solley and so many more.
Mr. Cates was preceded in death by his father, Larry Cates; his mother, Karen LeBlanc; his sister, Theresa Cates; and many aunts and cousins.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Tim and Shara Dale for the beautiful casket.
