SARA JO TRANTHAM
Sara Jo Trantham, 57, of Mexia, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2022, in Temple. She was born June 19, 1964, in Mexia to James Edward (Eddie Boy) and Jodelle Carroll Trantham.
Sara Jo grew up in a loving home and was the center of attention. After it became apparent that she had an unknown malady, every effort was made to find a cause and cure. When none was found, she became her mother’s life’s work, sacrificing unselfishly to take care of her every need.
It can be said that she was truly loved by all of her family as they took on the care duties after her mother was unable to continue.
One cousin expressed her feelings this way: “She’s running through beautiful flowers in Heaven and doing things she wasn’t able to do on Earth. I woke up this morning dreaming of her swinging surrounded by fields of flowers. Granny was swinging her and Grandpa and uncle Eddie Boy were sitting on a big rock with the biggest smiles. It made me smile.”
Sara Jo was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Boy Trantham and her uncles, Robert Michaels (Uncle Bob) and wife Allie, Russell W. Trantham and wife Mattie, Bobby Gene Trantham and wife Mozelle and Aunt, Emilie Ray and husband Bob.
She is survived by her mother, Jodelle Trantham of Mexia; siblings, Mary Alice Spampinato and her husband David, Judy Paetzold of Elk City, Okla., James Trantham and wife Margaret of Tehuacana and Susan (Sue Lil) and husband Greg (Frog) Roberts of Mexia. She is also survived by her uncles, Fain Carroll Jr. and wife Georgia and their family, and Milton Carroll and his family along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home chapel with David Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Mexia cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
