Roxie Ann (Roxianne) Boles Schuster

Roxie Ann (Roxianne) Boles Schuster, 85, passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. Roxianne was born March 14, 1938, in Teague to Dale and Marie Hullum Boles. She graduated from Teague High School, Class of 1956, and from Sam Houston Teacher College, where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Roxianne married Edmund John Schuster on June 6, 1959, in Teague. They were blessed with three children: Michael Dale, Anna Marie, and John Paul.

Roxianne was a longtime respected and admired schoolteacher, having taught for over 30 years in the Mexia Independent School District. She taught various subjects at different campuses, but she was most loved as a first grade teacher for several years before becoming a high school English teacher in 1981. She retired from teaching in 1994. In addition to teaching, she and Edmund owned and operated a roadside fruit stand on U.S. Hwy. 84 for 23 years, raising and selling peaches and vegetables.

Church, community involvement, and volunteer work were extremely important to Roxianne. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she taught catechism and was on the Ladies’ Altar Guild, serving as the president for many years. She served our community on the Mexia ISD School Board for 10 years. She was a member of Mexia Woman’s Friday Club from 1990-2020, serving in different positions and as president of the club during its 100th year celebration in 1995. Roxianne also enjoyed serving community members through the Point Enterprise Goodwill Club and Association, where she loved quilting with the quilting guild.

Roxianne was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edmund Schuster, her parents, Dale and Marie Boles, her brother, Robert Boles, and her sister, Mary Sue Smith.

Roxianne is survived by their children, Michael Dale Schuster and wife Lori of Midlothian, Anna Marie Kantor and husband Ted of Donie, and John Paul Schuster and wife Donna of Brackettville; grandchildren, Stefani Carney, Emily Dietz and husband Jonathan, Ashton Kantor, Zane Kantor and fiancé Emily Martin, Shelby Schuster, Tyler Schuster, and Stetson Schuster and wife Reece; great-grandchildren Madison and Mason Tackett, Camille Carney, Wyatt Burkhart, and Liam Dietz; sisterin- law Helen Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Moses Iyogwoya officiating. Interment was in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Zane Kantor, Stetson Schuster, Mike Matthews, Warren Matthews, Lucas Smith, Anthony Schuster, and Steve Minchew served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Sidney Hullum and Forrest Hullum.

Visitation with the family was held 5:30 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 18, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
