Paula Gauntt Hyden
Paula Gauntt Hyden, 64, formerly of Teague and Mexia, passed away on Jan. 19, 2020, at her residence in Bryan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Teague, with Paul Gauntt officiating.
Ms. Gauntt was born on June 29, 1955, in Teague, to William Paul and Lois Alma Harper Gauntt. She grew up in Teague, graduating from Teague High School (Class of 1973). She worked at the Mexia Daily News for 15 years as an ad manager and attended nursing school at Navarro College. She had lived in Bryan for the past 14 years. She loved with all of her heart animals, especially her dogs and cats, loved music and stylish clothes. Paula loved getting people together and having a good time. She was a very big Texas Longhorn fan.
Paula was preceded in death by her son, Scott Bradley Hyden; parents William and Lois Gauntt and partner, Ray Boucher. She is survived by her daughter, Shelly Hyden Wells of Mexia; son Steven Paul Hyden and wife, Megan Tinch, of Austin; grandchildren Scott Bradley Hyden and Alexander Kirby Hyden, of Austin, and Bree Michelle Wells and Blake Michael Wells, of Mexia; brother Bill Gauntt and wife, Patti, of Teague; as well as other extended family.
