Paul Randall Story
Paul Randall Story Paul Randall Story, affectionately known as “Randy” by his loved ones, passed away on April 3, 2024, in Conroe at the age of 75. Born on October 2, 1948, in Limestone County, he spent his early years in Mexia, where he graduated from Mexia High School in 1967.
During his high school years, Paul excelled as a star basketball player, earning top honors as a first-team all-state player. His talent and determination on the court were exceptional and garnered recognition statewide.
After high school, Paul attended Sam Houston State University, where he played basketball for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1970. He was stationed north of Frankfurt, Germany, serving his country with dedication and honor. Following his military service, Paul returned to Sam Houston State University and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
In addition to his educational achievements, Paul had a fulfilling career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Parole and Probation Department, where he retired after many years of service.
Beyond his professional and educational accomplishments, Paul was known for his zest for life, particularly enjoying outdoor cooking and gatherings with friends. His warm and caring nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his loving daughters: Shana Nagel and her husband Edward of Leander; Allison Story of Austin; and Shelby Brown and her husband Chancelar of Lubbock. He is also survived by his brothers: Larry Story and his wife Kim of Mexia; Dale Story and his wife Donna of Huntsville; Daniel Story of Sour Lake; as well as stepbrothers: Mike Chaney and his wife Pam; Jeff Chaney and his wife Brenda; Mark Chaney and his wife Laurie. Paul is also survived by his uncle, Joe Homer Holmes of Jewett.
Paul was a cherished grandfather to Steffanie Sanders and her husband Lyle of Cedar Park; Edward Nagel, Jr., and Savannah Cornett of Cedar Park; and Max Storm Story of The Woodlands. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Asher James Nagel and Olivia Grace Sanders.
In addition to his family, Paul leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will always remember his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
Paul was deeply loved and willbemissedbyhisbelovedcanine companion, Maggie, who will feel his absence dearly.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Story and Irene Walker Story, and his stepmother Doris Story Pope.
The memory of Paul will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of warmth, determination, and love for life will continue to inspire and uplift those who follow in his footsteps. May he rest in peace.
