Paul Edward Clayton
Paul Edward Clayton, 71, of Mexia, peacefully went home Friday, March 20, 2020, surrounded by his beloved family.
Paul was born to Curtis Clayton Sr. and Rachel Murphy Johnson on Jan. 18,1949, in Vernon.
He was married to his lovely wife, Shirley Clayton, for 48 years. His hobbies included playing dominos, listening to music, carpentry, viewing his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and spreading the Word of our Lord. He retired from the City of Mexia after 20 years of service in 2006.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Shirley Clayton; four daughters, Linda Gamble (Dwight), of Mexia; Charlotte Clayton and Paula Clayton, of San Antonio, and Paulette Clayton, of Frisco; mother Rachel Johnson; sister Sarah Clayton, of Mexia; and five brothers, Curtis Clayton Jr. (Gutherine), Bennie Lee Clayton and Jack Clayton, of Mexia, and Willie Clayton and Freddie Clayton, of Dallas.
A private graveside service will be held and officiated by Pastor Shane Norcross on Saturday, March 28, at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Mexia. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date, to be determined.
