Mother Alneita Hall
Mother Alneita Hall was born in Limestone County on Aug. 7, 1939, to Samuel and Mary Echols. She was the sixth of eight children. She attended Woodland, Douglass and Dunbar Schools. She gave her life to Jesus at an early age at Cameron Chapel Church of God in Christ. On July 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to General Lee (Jack) Hall. She later rededicated her life to Christ in 1982 to Salvation Lighthouse Church of God in Christ where she served faithfully under Pastor Elijah Baptist, Pastor MacLemoore and Superintendent L.J. Manning. She joined the House of Prayer church family and served as mother of the church. She later joined Life Ministries Full Gospel where she served faithfully under her son-in-law, Pastor Gregory L. Horn Sr. until her health failed her. She passed away July 10, 2019.
Mother Alneita was known and loved in the community by many. She was known as a faithful prayer warrior. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She did some homecare work and took care of many children, including grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors.
Mother Alneita was lovingly known as “Aunt Neet” by many. She was also known to be a great cook by family and friends.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, General Lee Hall; parents, Samuel and Mary Echols; five sisters, Vastine Melton, Ruby Powell, Lardaty Dawkins, Betty Joe Pervis, Roberta Hall; and one brother, Samuel Echols Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lurna (Gregory) Horn; sister, Helen Sims; niece Anna Valentine (raised like a sister); stepchildren, General Lee Collins, Ruth Lawrence and the Rev. Willie (Wanda) Lawrence; grandchildren in whom she took great joy in helping to care for, Gregory Horn Jr., Craig Horn, Christopher Horn, Christina (Christopher) Hancock, Nina (Nathan) Hall and Nicolas Horn; great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Spears, Cayden Horn and Chrislynn Hancock; uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Service and arrangements entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11 a.m. July 17 at Greater Haynes Memorial COGIC of Mexia.
