KAREL AYERS
Karel Lynn Ayers, of Alvin, passed away Oct. 2, 2020, in Angleton, at the age of 64. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Carmel Church at 12412 Highway 36 in Needville.
Karel was born June 12, 1956, in Mexia, to Danny Eugene and Mary Sue (Fife) Hitt. After graduating from Mexia High School, Class of 1974, she received an Associate’s Degree from San Jacinto College.
Karel married Zack Ayers on Sept. 27, 1975, at the Presbyterian Church in Mexia. They moved to Alvin, where she began her life as a homemaker and later became the proud mother of two daughters.
Karel’s love for the Lord and family was most important. She was a faithful Christian and could never get enough of hearing or reading the Word of God. Although she enjoyed traveling, she did not like to be absent from her church; she was a longtime active member of the Carmel Church. Karel loved being a mother, but she loved being a grandmother even more. Her twin grandchildren, Zachary and Alexandria, truly owned her heart. She was raised in a Christian home with a close, loving family and the trend continued with hers. Karel didn’t own any horses, but she enjoyed riding, petting or just watching those that belonged to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Danny and Sue Hitt; and daughter Amanda Gayle Ayers.
Karel is survived by her husband of 45 years, Zack Ayers; daughter Abbigail Ullrich; grandchildren Zachary and Alexandria Ullrich; sisters Connie and husband Paul Johnson, Laurie Chaney and husband Mark and Kathryn Rogers and husband Jimmy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
