JAMES RICHARDS
James Ray Richards, of Mexia, passed away June 16, 2021, at the age of 69. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 10, at the Mexia Family Church, with Pastor Jacob Kyle officiating.
James was born Aug. 27, 1951, in San Antonio.
James, better known amongst family and friends as Jimmy, was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing, caring for his birds, tinkering in the yard amongst his many projects, and watching his favorite movies and shows. Jimmy also had a passion for good food and would try anything once! He had a huge sweet tooth and loved a good desert! Jimmy’s biggest passion in life though was his family. He loved family gath erings and holidays and always had a joke or something clever up his sleeve to keep everyone laughing. Jimmy was well known amongst the community as a kind, gentle, hardworking and compassionate man. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. His com passionate nature touched the hearts of many, and he will be greatly missed by many.
James is survived by his soulmate, Katie; parents William and Sandy, of Groesbeck; three sons, James Jr. and wife Robin of Arkansas, Chris and wife Cheryl of Arkansas, and Shane and wife Ashley of Arkansas; daughter Brandy and husband Scott of Arkansas; 11 grandkids; three great-grandkids; brothers William Jr. of North Carolina, Robert of Arkansas, and Michael of Houston; and sisters Beverly Bruce of Georgetown, and Michell of Groesbeck.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene McKinney.
