GLENDA GATLIN
Our “Ran” Glenda Jeanette Gatlin, of Mexia, passed away Saturday July 24, 2021.
Glenda married Jay Presley Gatlin on Dec. 23, 1959. She enjoyed being a military wife and wonderful mother to their two sons Jim and John.
If you knew Glenda, you knew her passion in life was her family. She and Jay spent a lifetime supporting their sons’ many athletic events and coaching careers. They later loved attending their four grandchildren’s many activities.
As a family, we have had the honor and blessing of knowing her as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Glenda made the world a better place where she touched so many, and her laughter and positive attitude was infectious. She was also a longtime active member of Point Enterprise Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Ruth Vardeman, and brother-in-law Bobby Fife.
She will be cherished and forever remembered by her husband of 61 years, Jay P. Gatlin; sons Jim and Donna Gatlin, John and Tanya Gatlin; four grandchildren: Jordan Gatlin, Morgan and Matthew Sewell, and Amber and Jace Gatlin; sister Dolly Fife; nephew and niece Joe Bob Fife and Shelli Decker and their families.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 29, at Point Enterprise Cemetery, with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.
