Frances Alice Baber Arrington
Graveside services for Frances Alice Baber Arrington of Stephenville, formerly of Winnsboro and Mexia, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro.
Frances was born in Pauls Valley, Okla., on Nov. 25, 1929. When she was 8 days old, her parents, Judge Lester Baber and Nana Louise Stokes, moved back to their hometown of Winnsboro. Frances graduated from high school in 1947 and worked in Dallas for a short time before returning home to Winnsboro. She married George Tom Arrington in Winnsboro on July 22, 1950. They had a business, East Side Drug, until 1971. Frances went to work for the Winnsboro post office as a rural mail carrier in 1975 and finished her career there in 1994. A love of travel led her to many places in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada. She settled in Mexia in 1998, and then in Stephenville in 2003. She always loved Winnsboro and the folks who lived there. She was reunited with those who have left us and that she missed so much on Tuesday, April 17, 2019, at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom, in 1975; her brothers Bill (Will T.) Baber, Bob (Robert H.) Baber, and Joe Baber. She is survived by her son, Ben Arrington and his wife, Darlene of Mexia; her daughter, Alice Arrington Newsome and her fiance, Charles Jones of Stephenville; her brother Jack S. Baber and his wife LaVerne of Tyler; grandsons and their families, Caleb Arrington, his wife, Beata, and their son Darren; Zachary Arrington, his wife, Amanda, and their children Austin, Addison, and Rhyan; and Seth Newsome and his wife Ashley. She is also survived by nieces Sue Baber, Rivkah Cohen, and Bobbie Sue Arrington Vash and nephews Brian Baber and his wife Janice and Jeff Baber and his wife Marlene. Her cousins John Patrick and James Kell Patrick, cousin Billy Smith and his wife Sylvia, as well as Tom’s aunt, Nell Browning and her family, and many good friends are left to remember her. She also leaves behind her faithful pal, Rusty the dog, and her cat, Doll.
