After Ruben’s death, Flodell moved back to Mexia to be closer to her siblings. She joined the quilters in Point Enterprise and the Good Will Club where she served as secretary for almost 20 years. She quilted until her eyesight would no longer allow her to continue. During these years, she and her sister, Carlene, enjoyed taking bus trips all over the states in addition to flying to Canada and Nova Scotia.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great & great-great nieces and nephews. Also, her nieces, Carol Holt Keys and Betty Jean Holt McGaughey who have been her “children” and have taken care of her for the last years of her life.

Flodell’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Joyce Bolden, Johnnie Murphy and Florence Nealy.
