Edmil W. 'Eddie' Auld
Edmil W. “Eddie” Auld went to be with God his Father on March 19, 2024, at the age of 90.
Edmil was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Mexia, to Sandford W. and Iris Belle (Melcher) Auld. Both are now deceased. Edmil and Dorothy Faye Taylor were married on Nov. 8, 1952, at the Calvary Baptist Church Parsonage by the Rev. A.B. McBeth. Born to this union were three children, Michael Stephen Auld, Randy Wayne Auld and Karla Dianne Auld.
Edmil is survived by his wife, Dorothy Auld; son, Randy Wayne Auld and his spouse Judy; daughter, Karla Dianne Auld; grandchildren, Jessie David Auld and his spouse Stephanie, Rebecca Nicole “Nickie” Irby and her spouse Justin, and Cassandra “Cassie” Noel Lilly and her spouse Erin; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Destiny Michelle Darden, Tristan David Auld, Sydney Renee Auld, Logan Joshua Wayne Irby, Skyler James Taylor Darden, Jacob Eyan Dale Irby, Allister Lilly and Attika Lilly; and numerous friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stephen Auld.
Edmil graduated from Mexia High School in 1952 and from Tyler Commercial College in 1953. He spent 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of master sergeant. While in the Air Force, he taught courses in Airborne Radar Maintenance, Atlas Missile Maintenance, and Titan Missile Maintenance. He spent one two-year assignment in Ankara, Turkey, as a special electronic technician and several years at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls.
Upon retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he spent 17 years as a process computer hardware specialist with PPG Industries. He traveled extensively throughout this period from Fresno, Calif., east to Perry, Ga., and north to Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. He serviced and maintained 123 process control systems. After leaving PPG, Edmil formed his own company performing the same tasks as he did with PPG for two years.
Edmil retired at the age of 57 and relocated to Lake Limestone. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially enjoyed playing golf with his son, Randy, and grandson, Jessie. He was an avid fisherman and loved to read.
Funeral services for Edmil will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Corley Porter Chapel in Mexia. Family will receive friends prior to service starting at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery with U.S. Air Force Honors.
