Dennis Orbrie Funderburk
Dennis Orbrie Funderburk, 59, of Teague, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital in
Dennis was born to Dwain Funderburk and Rita Daugherty Van Cleave on Nov.22, 1964, in Eureka, Calif. He married Barbara Downes in Marlin on Feb. 8, 2000.
He was a carpenter by trade. He worked for Buddy and Barbara Miller of the Mexia-Limestone County Airport for 20 years doing carpentry work and maintenance.
When he and Barbara moved to Mexia, Dennis built their first home by himself. He was an amazing and devoted father to his children. He lived in Mexia and Reagan prior to Teague.
Dennis loved hunting and fishing, and he would process his own deer meat. He was a big storyteller, and he always had some good ones to share. One of his favorite things to do with his family was camping at state parks. One of their favorite places was Martin Dies Jr. State Park in Jasper. Dennis fought a long hard battle with cancer but is now pain free.
Dennis was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Funderburk, of Teague; daughter, Zoey Funderburk, of Teague; son, Dylan Funderburk and his wife Kylie of Fort Johnson, La.; sisters, Carolyn Byrd of Forest, Va., and Linda Antis and her husband Raymond of Bremond; brother, Dwain Funderburk of Thornton; aunt, Maxine Cobb of Highlands; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Ronnie Funderburk.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at Bremond Memorial Funeral Home at 5 p.m. with Brother Stan Ortner and Terry Funderburk officiating.
