Crowell Ann Baggett
Crowell Ann Baggett, 89, passed away and entered her heavenly home Feb. 22, 2025. Born March 28, 1935, Ann was the youngest of three daughters born to Clarence and Jewell Clark. She attended elementary school in Dew and graduated from Teague High School in 1953. She was employed at First National Bank in Teague until she married U.S. Army Pvt. Benton Baggett, also from Teague. They were stationed at Fort Meade, Md. when their first child, Stan, was born in 1958. Upon discharge, they moved to Mexia. Their second child, Jeff, was born in Mexia in 1961.
Ann was employed at Lone Star Gas Co. for several years. She then worked for Southwestern Electric Service Co. — making some
close, lifelong friends —and retired after 29 1/2 years of service. Retirement years involved helping Benton work at their farm in Dew; doting on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; volunteering at Caritas; tending her flowers and plants; and, most importantly, being active at Temple Baptist Church. She will be remembered as being always ready to help anyone in their time of need.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Joyce Smith and Sybil Evans; husband, Benton Baggett; and great granddaughter, Bailey Cooke. She is survived by her sons Jeff Baggett; Stan Baggett and wife, Kelly; grandchildren Nathan Baggett and Laura Cooke and husband, Lucas; great grandchildren, James Roe, Emma Cooke, Benjamin Baggett, Savannah Cooke, Catherine Baggett, and Kennedy Cooke.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Temple Baptist Church, 719 S. Red River, Mexia, Texas 76667.
