CHARLES SAMUEL DOUGAN
Charles Samuel Dougan, formerly of Mexia, passed away March 1, 202, in Bonham at the age of 91. A graveside service was held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, in the Tehuacana Cemetery.
Charles was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Emmet, Ark., to Luther Franklin and Artie Ester (Weaver) Dougan. He married his lifelong partner, Bobbie Nell Crow, on Sept. 23, 1950, in Mexia. They were happily married more than 67 years at the time of her death on July 2, 2018. Charles entered the U.S. Air Force on March 12, 1953, and proudly served his country for 10 years.
Charles and Bobbie lived for many years in Houston. After they retired, they moved to Mexia, where they made their home for 30 years. Charles’ life revolved around Bobbie; his love for her was very evident as her needs always came first. During their life together, they enjoyed traveling, fishing and eating at the Farm House in Mexia.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, “Pa” Dougan; parents, Luther and Artie Dougan; wife, Bobbie Dougan; brother, F.A. Dougan; and sisters-in-law, Pat Howell and LaVerne Hard.
Charles is survived by his brother-in-law, Malley “Pete” Howell of Heber Springs, Ark.; and nephew, Woody Dougan.
