Bobby Ray Toney

Bobby Ray Toney, 93, of Cypress, passed from this life Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.

Bobby was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Cass County, to Homer and Annie Belle Toney. He graduated from Mexia High School; was retired from Marathon Oil Company; an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; and had served 71 years in the Masonic Fraternity of Jim’s Bayou Lodge #491.

Bobby loved to garden, fish and was a great storyteller, but his favorite pastime was reminiscing with friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bettye Anne Toney, Evelyn Rankin, Ada Carnew; a brother, John Thomas Toney Sr.; and by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mae Toney, of Cypress; daughters, Gwen Sutton and husband Allan, of Monroeville, Ala., Brenda Woitena and husband Daniel, of Groesbeck; son, Stephen Toney and wife Joy, of Cypress; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1806 South Boggie St., in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery in Bivins.
