Raford Lee Sterling

Raford Lee Sterling, 90, passed away Oct. 9, 2024, at his home at Lake Mexia.

Raford was born May 1, 1934, in New Hope to Oscar Lee and Ida Mae (Burnham) Sterling.

Raford is survived by his very special partner, companion and caregiver, Linda Windland; daughter, Carolyn Rebuck of Flint; grandchildren, Lucky Michael Jones II of Clyde and Wendy Denise Swift of Bullard; great-grandsons, Colton Lee Jones of Baird, and Michael Swift of Bullard.

Raford spent many years working on heavy equipment with road construction. In his later years when he moved to Mexia, he operated the Circle Exxon on what used to be Circle on the east side of Mexia. He then did hay-baling for a lot of the farmers here.

May He rest in peace in the arms of the angels.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Corley Porter Funeral Home in Mexia. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Cotton Gin Cemetery outside of Mexia.
