Milton Carroll
Milton Carroll, a devoted family man and respected member of the community, passed away Sept. 8, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Wortham, and was the beloved son of the late Fain Everett Carroll Sr. and Janie Belle (Young) Carroll.
Milton was a proud graduate of Mexia High School Class of 1959. He looked forward to the annual class reunions where he was able to visit with friends and share memories.
Mitlon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; brother, Fain Carroll Jr.; and his cousin and dear, friend Clifton Carroll.
Throughout his life, Milton was a loving and devoted father to his children, Brian Carroll, Debbie Leago and husband John, and David Milton Carroll. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, Candace Carroll, Sara Masters, Stacey Chambers and husband Phillip, Seth Carroll, Sydney Carroll and Austin Thornton – as well as his great-grandchildren, Savannah Chambers and Shiloh Chambers. Milton is also survived by his sister, Jodell Trantham, and many nieces and nephews. Milton’s presence brought joy, laughter, and a deep sense of love and security to his family, who will forever treasure the precious memories they shared.
In his professional life, Milton owned Milton Carroll Autos for more than 35 years. Before going into business for himself he was the vice president of First Mexia Bank. Milton was elected as commissioner of Limestone County, where he worked diligently to serve and improve the community. His greatest passion was dirt track car racing at the Heart of Texas Speed Way and generously sponsored numerous drivers throughout his lifetime.
Miltonwasanactivemember of his home church, Covenant Life Fellowship, where he found solace through faith and nurtured his spiritual connection with God. Later in life, he became a cherished member of Christ Gospel Fellowship, where he truly embraced the community, serving others and spreading kindness in every interaction.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and honor Milton Carroll’s life during the funeral service, which will be held at at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Calvary Baptist Church with Kerry McMahon and LeeAnn Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. A family viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home.
Milton Carroll will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unwavering love, generosity, and commitment to his family, community, and faith. His gentle spirit and warm smile touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace.
