GLENDA CAROL BARRETT

Glenda Carol Barrett, of Mexia, passed away March 7, 2022, in Waco, Texas at the age of 72. Visitation with the family will be held from from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 11, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. At 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Shane Norcross officiating.,

Glenda was born Oct. 9, 1949 in Mexia to Jesse Theron Fowler and Dorothy Ruth (Evertt) Bell. Although she graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1968, she attended three of her high school years in Irving. Glenda continued her education and received her LVN certification. She worked for several nursing homes over a period of 30-plus years, prior to retirement.

Glenda was blessed with two sons, Chris and George, and two grandchildren, Lee and Brynnan. Her love for the Lord, family and friends was exemplified by the way she lived her life. She enjoyed spending time with all her family but there wasn’t anything that could “top” her time spent with Lee and Brynnan; they were her pride and joy.

Glenda was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She liked to read books; Joyce Meyers’ books were her favorite. She also had a passion for pets and, at one time, raised Boston Terriers.

Glenda was very outgoing always smiling, and appeared to be happy. She tried to live life to the fullest. Throughout her life, she met, and made many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Fowler; mother, Dorothy Bell; stepfather, George Bell; aunts, Doris Pope and Billie Jo Reed; and uncles, John, Charles and Jerry Everett.

Glenda Is survived by her sons, Dr. Chris Curry and wife Gina of Leesburg, Fla., and George “Tuffy” Graham of Mexia; grandchildren, Lee Curry and Brynnan Curry of Leesburg, Fla.; brothers, Dennis Fowler of Arlington and George H. “Buzz” Bell III; nieces, Loren Paige Colman and Leslie Glass; and nephews, Adam Jay Fowler and Chet Bell; and numerous cousins.
