Donald W. Snider Sr.
Donald W. Snider Sr., or Don as he was known by most who knew him, was born in Nacogdoches on Aug. 15, 1945, and he went to be with God in Waco on Jan. 8, 2022.
Don spent most his early life in Houston, where he worked for Shell Refinery for many years. In 1984, he moved back to his birthplace of Nacogdoches. There he worked for Schaub Painting, Rick Jackson Painting and Gresham Painting until retiring from the construction trade in 1997 and becoming a machine operator for NIBCO Inc. In late 2004, he moved to Fort Worth, and worked for SPM Oil and Gas as a machinist until his retirement in 2011.
Don was one of a kind and one of the toughest and most resilient men who God put on earth. He had hands of steel but a heart of gold. He was no stranger to hard work nor to taking big chances to provide for and protect his family and friends. After cheating death many times, he told his son, at a young age, “You don’t have to worry about me. The reaper may be waiting on me, but he will be waiting until I’m ready.” That Saturday in January, he was finally ready, and the Lord welcomed him home. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Don is survived by his son, Donnie Snider; daughter-in-law, Amanda Snider, both of Weatherford; his life partner, Anneshia Turner of Wortham; ex-wife Marilyn V. Snider of Weatherford; brother-in-law, Harry Faw of Midway; brothers Fred Mancil and Ken Mancil; sister, Mary Ann Chastain,;and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Snider and Lillie Dee Rogers Snider; daughter, Tammy Denise Snider; brothers, W. J. (Dub) Snider, Edwin Max (Mack) Snider and Joseph Campbell (Camel) Snider, Jody Mancil, Jesse Mancil and Doug Mancil; sisters, Eunice Snider Faw and Billie Jean Mancil Toungate,; and close relatives, Keneith Emerson Jolles Jr., and Jacqueline Octavia Baker Mancil.
A memorial service will be performed at a later date to be announced.
Corley-Porter Funeral Home is honored to handle the arrangements for Donald Snider.
