Gene Barrett Jr.

Gene was born in Dallas, on Dec. 17, 1959, to Harley Gene Sr. and Doris Meria Paris Barrett. He grew up in Coolidge and graduated from Coolidge High School, where he played baseball and participated in track (the two sports he really enjoyed). He was a contractor/ builder his entire life. The majority of his contracting career was spent traveling around the country remodeling Dillard’s Stores.

Gene loved his family and enjoyed getting together with everyone at family gatherings. Although he never had any children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews. Spoiling them as much as possible was his favorite pastime. Gene’s favorite “season” was deer season; he loved to hunt and was always anxious for that time to come around.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Doris Barrett; and Charlotte Everett.

Gene is survived by sisters Wyone Manes and husband David, SeLayna McAdams and Sonja Rivera; brother Christopher Barrett; Glenda Barrett; nephew Greg Conn and wife Debra and son Cooper; nephew Dale Manes and wife Shonda and children, Makenzie Newby and husband Evan, and Dakota Manes and wife Makala and daughter Paisley; niece Katrina White and husband Brian and son Blake; nephew Brian Barrett and children Ashley, Kaylee, Braiden and Brison; nephew Nicholas Molina and wife Viviana and daughter Michelle; niece Cristina Molina and children Sebastian, Jazmyne, Kamila and Josue Ruelas; nephew Michael McAdams; nephew James Fisher (and wife) and children Leo and Ephram; nephew Richard Fisher (and wife) and daughter Kylie Brooklyn; and nephew Conner Barrett and daughter Harlie.
