NORMA JEAN WATSON OWENS
Norma Jean Watson Owens passed away May 7, 2020, in Mexia, at the age of 74. Graveside services were held Sunday, May 10, in the New Hope Cemetery, with Pastor Jeffery Stachmus officiating.
Norma was born Sept. 15, 1945, in Corsicana, to Raymond Ray and Sally Elizabeth (Lawson) Watson. Mexia has been her home her entire life. She worked for most of the convenience stores in the Mexia/Groesbeck area for many years, the last being Don’s in Groesbeck. She also helped her friend, Jerry McMinn, mow yards.
When Norma wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and her cats. She loved her cats and they always received extra special treatment. She will be remembered by those she met while working in the local stores and truly missed by her loving family. She was preceded in death
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sally Watson; and brother, Raymond “Ray” Watson.
Norma is survived by her truly special friend of many years, Jerry McMinn, of Mexia; brothers Larry Wayne Watson, of Elgin, Okla., and William C. “Bill” Watson and wife Dixie, of Fairfield; sister-in-law Terry Watson; special cousin Paul Barrett and wife Debra Hays, of Mexia; and several nieces and nephews.
