Marion Edwin Herring
Marion Edwin Herring, of Shiloh, passed away May 22, 2019, in Mexia, one day prior to turning the age of 77. A graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 25, at the Shiloh Cemetery tabernacle.
Visitation with the family was 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Marion was born May 23, 1942, in Shiloh, to John W.E. and Oda J. Alewine Herring. After graduating from Mexia High School, Class of 1961, he received a Draftsman Degree from a Dallas college. He began his draftsman career for Lone Star Gas Company in Dallas, drawing pipelines, etc. Later, he went to work for an engineering firm in Dallas, constructing buildings all over the U.S., including Sears in Chicago. After moving back to Mexia in 1972, he went to work driving a truck for Sherwin-Williams, where he retired.
Marion married his loving wife, Virginia Fannin, on June 8, 1963, at the Primitive Baptist Church in Corsicana; they were blessed with two children, John and Jena. After moving from Dallas to Mexia, he and Virginia decided to move to Shiloh to make their home and raise their children. They have remained there since 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Oda Herring.
Marion is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Virginia Herring of Shiloh; son, John E. Herring of Shiloh; daughter, Jena E. Rader of Forest Glade; three grandsons, Adam Mahfood of Mexia, Shane Mahfood of Waco and Christopher Rader of Mexia; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Rowen Mahfood and Margaret and Elizabeth Owens; brother, Wilmer E. Herring; nephew, Willie Herring; uncle, Ray Taylor; and a number of cousins.
