John David Prichard
John David Prichard, 72, of Mexia, passed away April 6, 2019, in Fairfield. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Thornton Cemetery with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.
John was born March 30, 1947, in Marlin, to John Earl and Betty L. Richardson Prichard. He graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1965. He had an interest in computer science and after a year of computer courses, began working in the computer data programing field. John later became a computer analyst, working for Sprint, AT&T and Chase Manhattan Bank.
John was truly an outdoorsman. He loved playing golf, hunting, fishing or just being in the woods. His time in the country was enjoyed with friends or he was content with time alone. He also liked to watch sports, old westerns and slapstick comedies. He had little interest in traveling but did step out of his comfort zone to get certified in scuba diving. John loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Betty Prichard.
John is survived by his sister, Paula Prichard of Mexia; two daughters, Melanie Prichard Coleman and husband Lee, and Shelby Prichard; six grandchildren, Caleb, Mary Grace and Lilly Coleman, Faith Wallace and husband, Alec, Korie and Austin Harlen; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Wallace.
