Child murderer again up for parole

Limestone County District Attorney Roy DeFriend said he was shocked Thursday morning when he received an email from the state Parole Board, notifying him Carlos Don Stultz, the man convicted of assaulting and killing Mexia teen Kathy Jones in 1968, was being considered for a medical parole.
Annual Rodeo to take center stage this week

Linda Archibald’s phone was ringing off the hook at the Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce office Wednesday. That was the first day of sign-ups for the 91st Annual Mexia Rodeo, which will be June 24-26 at the Mexia Rodeo Complex. Additionally, there will be an added slack event at 7:30 p.m. June 23.

This week at Mexia LTC we started the week off with a wheelchair race on Monday morning. Residents played bingo on Monday afternoon.
