R.Q. Sims’ new assistant principal, Carolyn Cummings, was born and raised in Mexia, and she has been working on returning to the city for several years.

The city of Mexia has known its Fire Department’s ladder truck would need replacing soon, but City Council learned at its Tuesday meeting that the truck may have finally reached the end of its days.
Mexia City Council authorized City Manager Eric Garretty to apply for a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the design and construction of the Jack and Mary Phillips Municipal Pool, naming Garretty as the city’s designated agent for that transaction.
