The Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce sold out space faster than ever for its annual awards banquet Oct. 22, according to Moises Rocha, event and marketing coordinator.
Texas recognizes the second Saturday in September as Quanah Parker Day, but other than a storyteller in costume at Old Fort Parker greeting visitors not much is happening in Mexia to commemorate it this year.
Mexia native Alan Vest, 57, apparently killed himself during a daylong standoff with U.S. Marshals who tried to serve a federal search warrant on him Thursday, Sept 12, according to Deputy Joe Bays, of the agency’s Waco office.
