A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning, Oct. 9, when a pick-up truck struck him while he was walking along the 300 block of State Highway 14/ Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.

He was once the United Methodist District Superintendent for the Mexia District years ago. He was one of the final three candidates for Bishop when his heart wore out. He had to retire immediately for this medical reason. After years of waiting on the heart transplant list, he received a new heart 15 years ago. He is now 78.
