High school football workouts suspended due to COVID-19 exposure
Summer workouts for Mexia varsity and junior varsity football players were suspended beginning this morning due to a current Mexia athlete getting exposed to COVID-19, according to a social media post by Coach Triston Abron.
Abron said in a Facebook post Tuesday night that the 8 a.m. session of the EDGE summer workouts, which is for high school boys, was shutting down immediately. He said the workouts would not resume until the Mexia ISD administration is provided a confirmation of a negative COVID-19 test for the athlete.
The coach said the 10 a.m. session, which includes Ladycat athletes and junior high athletes, will continue each day as scheduled.
The EDGE workouts are scheduled for Monday through Thursday through the end of this month. The first day of fall practice is slated to be Monday, Aug. 3.
