The adage about defense winning championships rang true for the Mexia girls basketball game in their area round playoff game against Scurry-Rosser at Athens High School on Friday, Feb. 17.
The Mexia boys basketball team clinched the District 20-3A championship when it squeaked past Franklin, 53-52, in the final regular-season game at Franklin on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Mexia clinched at least a share of the District 20-3A championship with a convincing 71-31 shellacking of Groesbeck at the Mexia High School gym Friday, Feb. 10.
