Willie Gaston Jr.
Mr. Willie Gaston Jr. was born Aug. 2, 1938, to Verila and Willie Gaston, Sr. in Freestone County. He was the seventh of fourteen children.
Willie attended Dogan High School in Fairfield. He attended church service at COGIC Fairfield Number One, where he accepted Christ at an early age.
Mr. Gaston passed away on Dec 30, 2019.
Willie moved to Hobbs, N.M., where he met and married Bonnie Hicks. This union was blessed with two children: daughter Sharron Lynn and son Bandele Ajini.
The family resided in Albuquerque until 2007.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Aubrey and Tyree; sister May Pearl; and grandson Christian Alexander Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Bonnie; daughter Sharon Johnson (Joe), of Chantilly, Va.; son Bandele Gaston, of Albuquerque; granddaughter Brandi Johnson, of Manassas, Va.; sisters Excel Griggs, of Dallas, Mary Joyce Manning, of Fairfield, and Lanetta Turner, of Dallas; brothers Maurice Gaston, of Fairfield, Lindberg Gaston, of Calif., Melvin Gaston, of Dallas, Alvin Gaston, of Dallas, Walter Gaston, of Fairfield, and Daniel Gaston, of Fairfield; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Service was to be held Jan. 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church in Fairfield. Arrangements entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home.
