Frank Ellis Turnham
Frank Ellis Turnham, age 61, died at his Rainbow residence on May 6, 2019.
He was born Jan. 17, 1958, in Long Beach, Calif., to Ellis Delano and Geraline “Gerry” Turnham. Frank grew up in Irving and Mexia, graduating from high school there in 1976. He graduated from Texas State Technical Institute with a degree in nuclear technology, and spent his career working in nuclear plants across the country.
In 1983, Frank married Janis Fortune, and they were the parents of three children, Chelsea Marie, Zachary Ellis and Jewell Charlene, who were his proudest accomplishments. After Janis’ death in 1994, he married Kim Moreno, who died in 2008.
Frank was known for his brilliant mind, quick wit and his amazing ability to artfully spin a tale. He enjoyed lifelong friendships with people from all backgrounds and places, including his high school buddies, the colorful Red Devils. He loved hunting, fishing, dogs and playing the blues on his guitar and numerous harmonicas. He was devoted to his family, and many, many people who adored him.
Frank is survived by his mother, Gerry Edwards; his children, Chelsea Peterson (Matthew), Zach Turnham (Lindsay) and Charlea Leger (Robert); his beloved grandsons, Jayden Cheyenne Leger and Kade Ellis Turnham; and his sister and brother, Stephanie Turnham and Roger Walker Turnham.
A memorial service for Frank will be held on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Glen Rose Wiley Funeral Home. Visitation will take place immediately following the service at the Glen Rose Community Center. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of one’s choice.
Goodbye, Frank. We love you.
