Billy Hardaway Jr.

Billy Hardaway Jr. passed away Oct. 25, 2022, in Mexia. He was born on Feb. 5, 1953, in Lamesa to Billy Hardaway Sr., and Elvene Carter Hardaway. He was one of 12 children. Hardaway was raised in Lamesa and attended Lamesa Public School. He accepted Christ early in life and was a Baptist.

He married Katherine Vasthi Williams. This union was blessed with four children.

He worked many jobs in his life including on the railroad and at the Big Brown Plant. He also served in the U.S. Navy, serving one tour in Vietnam. Before, he was Honorably Discharged. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Sr. and Elvene Hardaway; siblings, Audry Lavern Hardaway, Johnny Lee Wright, Otis O. Hardaway and Jerry Hardaway. Loving Survivors; son, Billy Hardaway III; daughter, Sharonda Hardaway Jackson, Shindera Jackson (Ronald), Sherney Hardaway; brothers, Willie Bell Hardaway, Robert Earl Adkinson, Mark Hardaway and Ozar C. Hardaway; sisters, Martha Nell Carter, Beulah Hardaway, Lucille Hardaway, Yvonne Hardaway; sister-in-law and provider, Debra Kay Hardaway; nine grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
