Albert Richmond
Albert Richmond, 88, of Mexia, passed away on Sept. 20, 2019, at the Mexia LTC. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with David Snow and Ronnie Dabney, officiating. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Family visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Dabney, Johno Dabney, Jacob Dabney, Billy Sterling, Bennie Murphy and R.J. Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers are Fain Carroll and Don High.
Mr. Richmond was born on Sept. 27, 1931, in Magnolia, Mississippi to Lawrence Coleman and Anna Mulligan Richmond. He married Rosa Jean Sandifer in August of 1956 at the Pike County Courthouse in Magnolia, Mississippi. From 1945-1970, he worked at the cotton mills in Mississippi and Texas. He then retired after 30 years with the Mexia State School in the maintenance department. Mr. Richmond was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Anna Richmond; son, Albert Richmond Jr.; brother, Lawrence Richmond Jr. (Bobo) and sisters, Helen Tindle and Mary Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Richmond of Mexia; daughter, Elizabeth (Ann) Dabney of Mexia; grandsons, Johno Dabney and wife Cassie, and Jacob Dabney and fiancé Melissa Miller, both of Mexia; great-granddaughter, Hannah Jacobs of Mexia; nieces, Shirley Musgrave of Denton, Viola Barnes and Sally Martin; great-nieces, Callie Gilbert of Pilot Point, and Teresa; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
